A dining table inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge, bringing wood, stainless steel and glass together with an Art Deco influence.

Egyptian-inspired desk

A walnut desk with a deeply figured top and an Egyptian-inspired edge profile.

Organic bookcase

Flowing curves, staggered shelves and exposed dovetail joinery. Only the bottom shelf spans the full width.

Cherry and slate coffee table

A cherry coffee table with a slate border and a lower shelf.

A vanity from scratch

Designed and built by Ryan: the countertop, cabinetry, drawers and woodwork. The sink basin and faucets were purchased.

Two legs, one entryway table

Ryan turned these two large legs from 8 × 8-inch stock on his lathe for a friend’s entryway table. The table was anchored to the wall, so it needed only two legs.

A thank-you in wood

Ryan and his wife took apart and rebuilt this three-drawer dresser, adding new legs, new drawer pulls, and a new stain and finish. They gave it to the family whose spare room they stayed in in New Zealand, who made them feel like family.

ARTWORK · AN ETSY BUSINESS

From wood panels to an Etsy shop

I started making wood clocks and large maps, using gel-medium transfers to put the images onto stained wood. I sold dozens of those early pieces through Etsy.

Later I brought another interest into the work: cars. I created digital car artwork and transferred the prints onto wood panels. What began with maps and clocks grew into a business selling artwork.

PYNEandSTEELE is the wood-art shop. BoofunkPrints is its sister shop for prints and apparel.

Maps & clocks

Furniture images have been digitally cleaned using the original photographs as references, including generated reconstruction where objects obscured the wood. The maker portrait also has edited clothing and workshop surroundings. The dresser and artwork images are original photographs.
